Rain failed to stop over 6,000 runners who showed up for the 2025 KH3 7 Hills Run. They all came together to support keeping girls in school across Uganda. The KCCA Executive Director kicked off the event as dawn broke. Participants tackled courses of 5KM, 10KM, and 21KM across the famous seven hills of Kampala.
This year marked the third run under the theme "Change Her Story." Money raised goes directly to programs that remove barriers and improve education access for girls. Brian Adams Ategeka upgraded from silver last year to gold this time, finishing the 21KM race in 01:24:32. Evas Nasasira broke records in the women's category with her time of 02:06:02.
The top performers earned amazing prizes for their efforts. Brian Ategeka, Andima On Sunday, Evas Nasasira, and Hilda Atwiine won free trips to South Africa. They'll compete in the Run Your City Series held in Johannesburg. The fastest runner, Ategeka, also received a land title in Mpigi Estate as an extra reward.
Ategeka shared his thoughts after winning: "I have participated in many races, but the KH3 7 Hills Run is truly special. It is physically demanding but incredibly rewarding, especially knowing that we are running for a cause bigger than ourselves—giving young girls access to education."
The event has made huge impacts since it began in 2023. Organizers have raised UGX 500 million total—UGX 200 million the first year and UGX 300 million in 2024. These funds have helped more than 10,000 girls throughout Uganda. David Wandera explained how each participant helps their mission to reach more girls.
Corporate support keeps growing, with five additional sponsors joining the cause this year. Organizers managed waste responsibly by collecting and recycling plastic from the event. This helped reduce environmental impact and promoted sustainability practices.
The day finished with exciting entertainment for everyone involved. Artists Rema Namakula, Elijah Kitaka, Cindy, DJ Etania, and DJ VX Faisal delivered energetic performances. Their music created the perfect celebration atmosphere after all the running was done.
