Ravi Dubey exposes the harsh reality for indie filmmakers

Actor-producer Ravi Dubey has emphasized the uphill battles confronting independent filmmakers at the International Film Festival of India, arguing that financial constraints and limited industry connections prevent promising artists from reaching wider audiences. Speaking during his inaugural visit to IFFI alongside wife Sargun Mehta, the Jamai Raja star described the festival as an essential meeting ground where emerging directors can connect with potential backers and collaborators who might champion their projects.

Dubey acknowledged his own evolving journey behind the camera, characterizing himself as still absorbing lessons from peers while recognizing the wealth of untapped storytelling talent across India's creative landscape. The gathering provides vital exposure for fresh voices bringing innovative perspectives to cinema, he noted, countering any notion that compelling narratives remain absent from the industry.

The festival honors South Indian superstar Rajinikanth at its closing ceremony, celebrating five decades of his cinematic contributions.
