Rizvi accuses Jamaat of creating a state within a state in Dhaka

Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi criticized Jamaat-e-Islami for establishing parallel authority structures within educational institutions. The senior politician questioned whether Dhaka University student representatives possessed legal power to impose monetary penalties on campus businesses. Rizvi challenged the practice of depositing collected fines into political party accounts rather than proper administrative channels.

The BNP official condemned Jamaat's student organization for supplying dormitory furniture to university halls. He argued such actions bypass established administrative procedures and weaken institutional governance. Rizvi suggested these activities represent attempts to create autonomous zones outside government oversight.

The politician expressed concern about external threats facing Bangladesh following recent political changes. He alleged coordinated efforts exist to portray his party negatively while minimizing criticism of Jamaat activities. Rizvi claimed media coverage unfairly emphasizes BNP misconduct while overlooking similar problems within Jamaat ranks. The leader spoke during a book discussion event at Jatiya Press Club.
