RTX 5090 Tanks in Unreal Zorah Performance Nightmare

Even the strongest graphics card struggles with fancy features in the latest tech demo. The NVRTX version of the Unreal Engine 5 Zorah demo runs poorly at 4K resolution on the RTX 5090. Tests from Compusemble show the demo crawling at just 13 frames per second when using advanced options like Mega Geometry and path tracing.

Computer hardware still needs to catch up with NVIDIA's newest graphics tricks. The demo performs better with DLSS turned on, but only reaches above 30 frames per second in Performance mode. This proves many next-generation visual features remain out of reach for most players.

Despite these performance issues, the technology shows promise. One impressive new feature, RTX Neural Rendering, creates small versions of thousands of textures, saving much more memory than current compression methods. NVIDIA explains more about this system on its website.

The demo helps gamers understand what future games might look like when hardware becomes powerful enough. It also shows why game developers must carefully choose which advanced features to include. For several more years, most upcoming games will need to balance visual quality against smooth performance.
