National Bank of Malawi and the Scorchers women's football squad rolled up to Mai Mbambande Shelter Home for the Elderly in Lilongwe with maize, rice, beans, sugar, and cooking oil for elderly residents. South End Service Centre Manager Nguwachi Selemani said the bank's sponsorship deal with the team goes past sports into actual community work, and she praised shelter founder Deborah Mbale for launching the facility at 25 years old.
Artist Jetu showed up repping the Scorchers since her track Ona Pangolin became the anthem for the bank's women's championship tournament. Mbale thanked both groups for the donation, and team captain Tabitha Chawinga backed the whole thing as proof that women can spark real change off the pitch.
