Server CPU prices set to jump as AMD and Intel sell out

Server CPU makers are cashing in on the AI gold rush with massive price hikes. AMD and Intel have completely sold out their inventory for current server processors due to insane demand from hyperscalers. This shortage has both companies planning to increase prices by up to fifteen percent.

Hyperscalers are driving this frenzy by upgrading their data centers to newer CPU architectures. They are shifting toward AMD's latest EPYC Turin chips and Intel's new Xeon Granite Rapids processors. This transition has created a massive upgrade cycle, with overall server CPU shipments projected to grow significantly.

The situation presents a huge revenue opportunity for both chip giants. Intel specifically could leverage this server demand to boost its data center business, especially as its AI accelerator division struggles. AMD continues to dominate the server market share with its EPYC lineup.

Looking forward, both companies are preparing aggressive next-generation server CPU launches. AMD is developing future EPYC Venice processors based on an advanced two-nanometer process for a later release cycle. The current inventory crunch and planned price increases highlight the intense pressure from AI-driven infrastructure builds.
