Smart thread prompts to make posting a breeze

The XenForo forum platform gives forum owners a special way to guide people when they start new threads. These guides appear as words inside the empty title box when someone makes a thread. They tell people what to write about or ask. Forum managers create these guides through the control panel under Forums and Thread prompts. The guides help direct users toward certain types of discussions. A feedback forum might show "How can we improve?" in the title box before anyone types anything. This makes people think about writing helpful feedback right away. The forum managers pick exactly which words appear for each different forum. These guides show up in two places - inside the quick thread box at the top of forum pages and the title box on the full page for making new threads. The XenForo forum platform shows these helpful words only until the person starts typing their title.

Forum managers can create many different guides for the same forum. When users visit that forum, the system randomly picks one guide from the list to display each time. This keeps things fresh when people make many threads. If forum managers do not create any special guides for a forum, the system uses the regular default words instead. Thread prompts help everyone understand what kind of threads belong in each forum. They make starting conversations easier because people know what they should talk about. The XenForo forum platform uses these prompts to keep discussions focused on the right topics. Forum managers like this feature because it reduces off-topic threads and helps new users participate correctly right from the beginning. The system makes guiding users simple without forcing strict rules about what people must discuss.
