South Africa Command 216 Runs Lead Over Zimbabwe After Day Two

South Africa dominated the second day of their cricket match against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. The visitors built a massive 216-run lead after two days of play. South Africa had earlier declared their first innings at 418 runs for nine wickets. Zimbabwe struggled to match that total and finished with just 251 runs.

Sean Williams saved Zimbabwe from complete disaster with a brilliant century. The batsman scored 137 runs off 175 balls to give his team hope. Williams hit his sixth Test century and fifth since 2020. He partnered with captain Craig Ervine for 91 valuable runs. Brian Bennett retired hurt with a delayed concussion early in the innings.

Zimbabwe started poorly at 23 runs for two wickets down. The team faced fierce bowling from South African pacers Codi Yusuf and Kwena Maphaka. Wiaan Mulder captured four wickets for 50 runs. Yusuf took three wickets for 42 runs to pressure the home team.

Williams attacked spinner Keshav Maharaj with aggressive sweeps and charges down the pitch. His tactics disrupted the bowler's rhythm and helped Zimbabwe avoid the follow-on. The innings collapsed quickly after Maharaj stumped Williams. Kyle Verreynne completed his fifth dismissal behind the stumps.

South Africa lost Matthew Breetzke early in their second innings but recovered well. Mulder remained unbeaten on 25 runs with Tony de Zorzi on 22. The visitors finished day two at 49 runs for one wicket. Two more days remain in this Test match.
