Stanbic Stuns Marange Women With Solar Water Tap

Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe gave a solar-powered water well with a large storage tank to women in Marange, Mutare. The bank teamed up with CARE Zimbabwe to help the local women's group gain better water access. Stanbic official Auxillia Kambasha said this project aims to lift rural women through financial help. CARE Zimbabwe picked women who showed leadership skills for this program that started in 2024.

The water well helps women start garden businesses, which can make them eligible for future bank loans. These gardens will create food security during hard times. The project helps women earn money, which reduces poverty. CARE Zimbabwe leader Walter Mwasaa called the well a symbol of hope for Ward 9, Majecha Village.

The partnership focuses on listening to local needs before taking action. Both groups want the water source to serve everyone nearby. Mutare District official Tendai Kapenzi praised the teamwork between the bank and the aid group. He noted their shared goal to address women's needs amid financial hardship.

Stanbic showed a strong commitment to the project despite hitting three dry spots before finding water. The bank also provided a 10,000-liter tank for water storage. The Women's Financial Inclusion Initiative aims to create lasting change through better financial access for local women.
