Steinberg has sharpened SpectraLayers 13 for post audio

Steinberg wants to yank a cough out of a windstorm and leave the wind intact, and that's the flex. SpectraLayers 13 is the latest spectral editing and unmixing app, headlined by Unmix Sound Effects, which pulls short sounds out of continuous ambience like wind, traffic, crowds, and nature, keeping the background on its own layer. Ambience Heal then patches the spectral gaps left behind using existing room tone.

Voice work gets three tools. Unmix Two Voices splits two speakers with no profile setup, Voice DeCrosstalk isolates an overlapping secondary voice, and Voice DeClick nukes lip smacks and tongue clicks.

A Reconstruct module resynthesizes tones, transients, and noise. New Paste Into Selection and Paste Insert tools arrive, while Time Fade and Frequency Fade sliders finally run on active selections.

Loudness metering with True Peak and LU updates live, batch processing hits several open projects at once, and the Pro Tools AudioSuite Bridge handles round-trip edits with Dolby Atmos to 9.1.6 and Ambisonics.

It's out immediately. Pro runs $359.99, Elements $89.99, and anyone who activated version 12 recently snags a free update.
