Students' Union Blasts Makinde's Plan to Rename Polytechnic Ibadan

Students at The Polytechnic in Ibadan have fired off an angry letter to state lawmakers. They want politicians to block their governor from changing their school name. Governor Seyi Makinde wants to rename the college after a dead former leader called Omololu Olunloye. He made this announcement at a big church service for the late politician. The students think this move stinks and could ruin everything they have worked for.

The student leaders Oladipupo Olamide and Azeez Tolase wrote the complaint letter on Monday. They told the Oyo State House of Assembly that their school has built up respect for more than 50 years. The name change would wipe out all that history and hurt everyone connected to the place. Current students and teachers would suffer along with thousands of graduates around the world. The college has earned a solid reputation that people recognize everywhere.

The angry students warned that messing with the name could destroy their academic reputation. They said the school has become famous for excellent education over five decades. Alumni and local people also hate the governor's plan and have spoken out against it. The student union begged lawmakers to step in fast and save their school identity. The state assembly has not said anything about the student appeal.
