Tanzania Taps Media and Airlines to Hit Tourism Goals

Tanzania's Tourism Surge Points to Bright Future.

Tanzania is ready to welcome five million tourists by 2025. The country's hard work to showcase its natural beauty keeps paying off.

New numbers from the Bank of Tanzania tell a success story. By August this year, more than two million foreign visitors came to Tanzania and spent 3.5 billion dollars during their stays.

The country aims to earn 6 billion dollars from tourism by 2025. This goal fits with Tanzania's growth plans for the next few years.

British tourists show growing interest in Tanzania. The number of UK visitors rose from 65,000 in 2022 to 75,000 in 2023. Tanzania's UK office wants to push that number up to 100,000 by 2025.

Mbelwa Kairuki, Tanzania's top diplomat in the UK, leads these efforts. His team meets with travel experts and trains tourism agents. They hire local staff who know how to attract British travelers.

The UK office spreads the word about Tanzania in creative ways. They talk with travel writers about hidden spots tourists might love. They plan TV shows with CNN to share Tanzania's story with the world.

Air travel between the UK and Tanzania might get easier. Air Tanzania won approval to fly into London's Gatwick Airport. Flights could start between November 2024 and March 2025.

The tourism office also contacted British Airways. They showed the airline why Tanzania makes sense for their business, using bank data to prove that many people want to fly there.

These efforts paint a picture of Tanzania's bigger dreams. The country wants more visitors to see its wonders, and each new flight and every tourism event brings that goal closer.
