The Munga Development Association announced three days of mourning after deadly attacks struck two communities last week. Armed herders killed more than 40 people during raids on Munga Lelau and Munga Dosso villages within Karim-Lamido Local Government Area. National President Shamah Ezra spoke at a press conference held at Jalingo about the Friday afternoon assault. Attackers destroyed homes, food stores, and valuable property worth millions of naira during the violence. Many residents fled their communities after witnessing the destruction and bloodshed.
MUDA officials said security forces failed to respond despite military and police stations located just 20 minutes away at Karim town. Armed men wearing military camouflage and riding motorcycles carried out the attacks without interference from authorities. The association rejected claims that Munga youth had attacked Fulani settlements first and caused the violence. Leaders traced the conflict back to Bandawa where a herder allegedly murdered a local farmer. Seven people from Munga-Dosso and two from Munga-Lelau died during earlier fighting at Ngurore Jabu.

The violence threatens the area's farming economy and dry season agricultural activities that attract workers from northern Nigeria.
