The Kelantan government calls for an investigation into the police raid of the HIV outreach programme

Kelantan authorities demanded a complete investigation after police raided an HIV prevention program they mistakenly identified as a gay sex party. Deputy Menteri Besar Mohamed Fadzli Hassan emphasized that all parties deserve fair treatment during the inquiry process. Officials must determine whether police actions had legitimate grounds or if advocacy groups present accurate claims about the health outreach event. Hassan stressed that justice should guide any final decisions regardless of investigation outcomes. Event organizers should obtain proper government approval before conducting potentially sensitive programs.

The Malaysian AIDS Council verified conducting nighttime HIV services on June 17 through their specialized outreach model. Health workers collaborated with the Kota Jembal Health Clinic to reach more than 70 high-risk individuals between 8 pm and 2 am. Civil rights organizations led by Justice for Sisters requested police statement revisions about the June raid. Media coverage following the incident created harmful stigma that discourages vulnerable populations from seeking medical assistance. Hassan suggested clarifying participant origins to protect local residents from unwarranted criticism.
