Tim Cook goes head to head with Meta in AR battle

Apple plans to launch two Vision Pro versions: an affordable model for consumers and a tethered option for businesses. The company aims to outpace Meta in the AR race, and CEO Tim Cook has made AR glasses his absolute priority.

According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple is developing smart glasses similar to Meta Ray-Bans with cameras and sensors. These glasses will integrate Apple Intelligence features to offer more functionality than competitors. Despite delaying some Personalized Siri capabilities until next year, Apple might speed up development for a fall release.

The new AR glasses will center around Siri with advanced AI integration. Apple wants to address privacy concerns about camera-equipped wearables, setting itself apart from Meta's approach. The company is also working on true AR glasses, which require more advanced technology.

These future glasses need high-resolution displays, powerful chips, and small, long-lasting batteries. Apple must develop compelling applications that make them as essential as iPhones. All components need mass production at consumer-friendly prices.

Apple might soon release simpler smart glasses to compete temporarily with Meta. The company continues developing more advanced AR technology for future products.
