Trump Cuts Africa Aid Fueling Terror Risk

President Trump cuts money for African military help and development programs. His America First plan reduces foreign aid budgets across the continent. Benin lost more than 80 soldiers to terrorist attacks during 2025. General Michael Langley leads US Africa Command and calls the Sahel region the terrorism center of the world. He warns that extremist groups could reach West African coasts and increase global threats. Langley confirms America will reduce troops on African soil. The military leader tells African defense chiefs that America will not provide permanent support.

US bases across Africa have closed after military takeovers forced American troops out. The Pentagon relies on drone strikes from distant locations instead of ground forces. Somalia received 25 airstrikes during 2025 compared to half that number last year. Development agencies like USAID face major budget cuts under efficiency programs. Critics argue Trump abandons Africa during its most dangerous period.
