Uganda's PostBank ignores locals for Kenyan, Zambian elite

PostBank Uganda made waves at the big farming show held last week across seven days in Jinja. The bank grabbed attention from farmers all over East Africa during the 31st National Agricultural Show. Women farmers traveled from Kenya and Zambia just to learn about PostBank's special money programs for agriculture. The event focused on new technology that helps farmers make more cash from their crops. PostBank used this chance to teach people about loans and financial services designed for rural communities.

Julius Akais from PostBank led training sessions for 15 women farmer leaders from Uganda and the visiting African delegations. He explained how the bank helps farming groups access credit through programs like Large-Scale Commercial Farmers Scheme and Grow Loans. The sessions covered mobile banking services and seasonal loan options that work around harvest times. Farmers asked many questions about how women can access these financial products more easily. Akais stressed that PostBank wants to help rural women succeed in agriculture through better access to money and training.

The bank sees agriculture as crucial since farming employs nearly 60 percent of all Ugandans. PostBank recently won five major awards from the Bank of Uganda for excellence in agricultural financing. The company continues expanding its reach into farming communities across the country. Officials say these agricultural shows help them connect directly with farmers who need financial support. PostBank believes supporting agriculture drives prosperity for all Ugandans living in rural areas.
