USF Approves Rs7.49 Billion for Projects to Expand Internet Access in 10 Districts

Pakistan's Universal Service Fund directors approved seven technology projects worth Rs7.49 billion on Sunday. The projects will bring faster internet to nearly 960,000 people across 347 areas. Ten districts will benefit from these new digital connections. The board met at USF headquarters for their 98th session. Zarar Hasham Khan led the meeting as Ministry Secretary.

Two major fiber cable projects will serve 2.8 million residents. Sanghar district gets 415 kilometers of new fiber lines. Jhang district receives 525 kilometers of cable infrastructure. The projects connect 113 towns and local councils. Workers will install 940 kilometers of fiber cables total.

Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja guides the USF program. The fund has already connected over 37 million Pakistani citizens. Young business owners and women start online companies through these connections. Remote areas gain access to digital job opportunities. Pakistan strengthens its position as a technology center.

CEO Chaudhry Mudassar Naveed shared project updates during the meeting. Board members praised efforts to expand internet access. Rural communities benefit most from these technology investments. The organization transforms Pakistan's telecom and IT sectors. Underserved regions receive priority attention.

Five additional projects worth Rs1.83 billion bring mobile services to villages. Nearly 1000 settlements across ten districts get 4G networks. Attock, Khushab, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, and six other districts participate. Communities gain reliable high-speed internet access. Economic growth follows improved digital connectivity.
