Vancouver's Blackbird Interactive pries Hardspace from Focus

Blackbird Interactive secured ownership of the Hardspace Shipbreaker intellectual property from Focus Entertainment. The Vancouver studio plans to expand the franchise that originally launched in 2022. Focus Entertainment served as publisher for the initial release, which achieved a strong critical reception. Wccftech awarded the game a 9 out of 10 rating through reviewer Rosh Kelly. The critic praised its procedural puzzles, ambient soundtrack, and corporate resistance themes.

The developer announced multiple franchise entries currently under production. Blackbird simultaneously launched the LYNX Pioneer Program for interested players. Pre-registration provides access to exclusive playtests of future projects and behind-the-scenes development content. Participants can influence upcoming games and enter contests. Former Relic Entertainment staff founded Blackbird Interactive, which previously concentrated on strategy titles like Homeworld, Deserts of Kharak, and Homeworld 3. The studio achieved unexpected success with this action-adventure simulation despite its strategic gaming background.
