Victoria Falls gives a 6-month grace period for unpaid housing stands

Victoria Falls municipal authorities granted a half-year extension to 22 property holders who have not completed payments for allocated residential plots in the resort town. Mayor Prince Thuso Moyo announced that 478 out of 500 beneficiaries have settled their accounts in full, dismissing claims that the council was quietly reclaiming land for reallocation through unauthorized fees.

The clarification addressed October accusations from the Victoria Falls Consortium alleging that officials were seizing BE 100 area properties to redistribute them to new applicants. Moyo challenged critics to produce documentation proving any legitimate repossession, noting that social media rumors falsely attributed the seizures to him and town clerk Ronnie Dube.

Council leadership reaffirmed its commitment to transparent land distribution while working toward universal housing access goals by 2030. The payment deadline extension demonstrates flexibility for remaining beneficiaries to complete their financial obligations.
