Minority Leader: Two Minister Nominees Face Secret Vote.
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin says two minister nominees will face a secret vote in Parliament because there is no agreement on their appointments.
The nominees are Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for Foreign Affairs and Samuel Nartey George for Communications. Parliament is waiting for them to provide documents to back up claims they made during vetting.
Afenyo-Markin also took responsibility for the chaos during last week's nomination vetting. The disruptions worried many people, and state property was damaged.
On February 4, 2025, Afenyo-Markin asked Speaker Alban Bagbin to end the suspension of four MPs. Three of them are from the Minority party. This is different from what the Minority said before. They had claimed Bagbin did not have the power to suspend the MPs.
The Minority Leader wants the Speaker to change his mind. He is concerned about the public's reaction to the chaos in Parliament.
The secret vote will decide if Ablakwa and George are approved as ministers. Afenyo-Markin promised to give more details later.
