Women urged to lead fight against corruption in Kassena Nankana

Officials urged women in the Kassena Nankana Municipality to help fight corruption and promote legal accountability. The civic education session brought together representatives from trade associations, faith organizations and community groups at the municipal assembly hall on Friday.

Government representatives told attendees that corruption harms women seeking healthcare and educational services. Abdul-Gafaru Issahaku, from the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, reviewed laws protecting citizens and encouraged reporting of misconduct. Regional police coordinator Mariam Awemoni described corruption as undermining national progress.

Felicia Ajongbah from the National Commission for Civic Education emphasized the need to teach informal sector workers about whistleblower protections and information access rights. The program received backing from German and European development agencies. Participants committed to advancing honest governance in their areas after the training concluded.
