Land-sale disputes in Zaka turned bloody after a village head and his brother allegedly knifed three people across two locations on the same day.

George Muvavi goes on the run in Zaka

  • Brother Tinashe Muvavi allegedly joined in on the attacks.
  • Masvingo Provincial deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Masauso Patinyu confirmed the incidents.

The stabbing spree breaks down like this

Illegal land sales are at the heart of it
  • The violence allegedly traces back to land that the Muvavi family sold off without any right to.
  • Tinarwo Village is among the neighbouring communities claiming their land was flogged illegally.
  • Mashanyare Village is also tangled up in a separate dispute with the family.
  • Some of those Mashanyare land rows have already landed in court.
