Zambian tech officials did a field check on some Airtel telecom towers, visiting sites at Nyumba Yanga and Chalala. The point was to check on network upgrades and push the country's digital shift forward. Minister of Technology and Science Felix Mutati addressed common complaints about dropped calls, stating the government is working with Airtel on fixes.
They looked over the towers' performance and maintenance, including backup solar power to keep them running all the time. The visit also covered Airtel's wider national network growth plan. Mutati pointed to the company's massive one hundred seven million dollar investment for four hundred six new sites as a key move for better connectivity. He also mentioned regulatory changes to speed up building permits for this kind of infrastructure.
