Zambian President Praises Namibian Founding Leader

Zambian Leader Mourns Former Namibian President Nujoma.

Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema expressed grief Sunday over the death of Namibia's founding president, Sam Nujoma, who passed away Saturday following three weeks of hospitalization in Windhoek.

Hichilema honored Nujoma's memory on social media platform X, describing him as "a freedom fighter, nationalist, pan-Africanist, and founding president of Namibia." The Zambian leader emphasized that Nujoma's enduring legacy would remain a permanent part of African history.

The tribute adds to the outpouring of remembrances from regional leaders following the death of Nujoma, who shaped Namibia's path to independence and served as its first president.
