Zim VP Touches Down in Lusaka for Lungu Wake

Zimbabwe's Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga traveled to Lusaka yesterday to offer sympathy for former Zambian President Edgar Chagwa Lungu's death. President Emmerson Mnangagwa sent Chiwenga to share Zimbabwe's grief with Zambian leaders and citizens. The former president passed away on June 5 at age 68. People remembered Lungu for his work helping Zambia and other Southern African countries. Leaders from both nations praised his service to the region.

Chiwenga told Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema that the two countries remain like family members. He said Zimbabwe and Zambia are brothers and sisters separated only because the Zambezi River runs between them. The vice president reminded everyone that Zambia helped Zimbabwe during its fight for freedom from colonial rule. Zambia served as a frontline state that welcomed Zimbabwe's freedom fighters. This support created lasting bonds between the two nations.

President Hichilema agreed that both countries share deep connections. He said problems that hurt Zambia also hurt Zimbabwe because of their close relationship. The Zambian leader wants young people to learn about this special friendship between the nations. Hichilema thanked President Mnangagwa and Zimbabwe's people for their kind support during this sad time. Both leaders promised to keep their countries' strong partnership alive.
