Zimbabwe finds its own Ye in hip hop

Zimbabwe has found its version of Kanye West in rapper Holy Ten. Every country seems to have someone who stirs up trouble yet fascinates fans at the same time. South Africa has Nota Baloyi, America has Ye, and Zimbabwe has Holy Ten. These stars grab attention through wild behavior and endless drama.

Holy Ten acts just like Kanye with his shocking statements. He publicly criticized his wife, Kimberly Richard, and picked fights with other artists, including former hip-hop star Mudiwa Hood. He even attacked religious leader Uebert Angel during a podcast with DJ Ollah 7. His recent outbursts match the bizarre rants we hear from American rapper Ye.

The Zimbabwean rapper admitted he married Kimberly Richards simply to anger Voltz JT. He suggested his wife might be holding back his career. Holy Ten, nicknamed "Mujaya" by fans, called out Spirit Embassy leader Angel, claiming the religious figure asked him for girlfriends and cheated on partners.

Both rappers face legal problems from their big mouths. Kanye's former assistant Lauren Pisciotta filed an 88-page lawsuit last October accusing him of drugging and raping her at a party. Holy Ten faces lawsuits from comedians Mama V, Mudiwa Hood, and Angel. Reports say Mudiwa and Angel want $1.5 million in damages, though Mudiwa denies filing any legal action.

Rap careers thrive on tough talk, and both artists have battled rivals through music. Holy Ten trades diss tracks with Voltz JT, making up between fights. Kanye has feuded with Drake, Kid Cudi, Nas, and Cardi B throughout his music career.

People say Holy Ten never finished school, similar to Ye. This background might explain some of their life choices. Both blame alcohol for their worst moments. When Ye posted anti-Jewish comments on Twitter, he later claimed Hennessy made him do it, saying "demons come out" when he drinks.

Mudiwa shared an apology from Holy Ten that blamed booze and evil spirits: "I'm sorry about the stuff I posted. I genuinely believe I was possessed that weekend. That's the same weekend I almost divorced my wife. I'm really sorry, but I have an actual alcohol problem."

Both artists cause award show drama. Kanye famously interrupted Taylor Swift's 2009 MTV Video Music Awards speech to praise Beyoncé instead. Holy Ten complained about missing the National Arts Merit Awards and attacked comedian Mama V's win, saying the cross-dressing performer badly influences children.

The two stars control their partners in unhealthy ways. Ye made headlines when partner Bianca Censori wore provocative clothes at the Grammys. His ex-girlfriend Julia Fox said he dictated her wardrobe choices. Holy Ten tries reshaping Kim into his perfect partner and accuses her of limiting his potential.

Both changed music in their countries. Holy Ten brought fresh hip-hop sounds when Zimdancehall ruled Zimbabwe. He sparked many musical partnerships with hits like "MaChills" and "Sahwira." Kanye shaped American rap and launched careers through his G.O.O.D. Music label, helping John Legend, Travis Scott, Tyga, Big Sean, and D'Banj reach fame.

Neither stays faithful to their partners. Holy Ten admitted cheating during his DJ Ollah 7 interview. After divorcing Kim Kardashian, Ye dated Julia Fox, who later said he used her as a chess piece in his relationship games, hinting at more affairs.

The stars play with religious themes despite bad behavior. Mukudzei Chitsama picked "Holy Ten" as his stage name despite acting unholy. Kanye named an album "Yeezus," mixing black identity with godly claims. His song "I am a god" shows his self-declared divinity. Both rappers break the rules and challenge what society expects from them.
