Muni Long stiffs Zulu, Dixon for $600k
Singer Muni Long faces a lawsuit from former managers Chaka Zulu and Jeff Dixon seeking more than $600,000 in unpaid commissions. The managers claim that their company, Ebony Son Entertainment, helped revive her career and secure performance deals following her recent commercial success. Court documents state Long agreed at the 2023 Essence Festival to pay 20 percent of gross earnings plus expenses. The lawsuit alleges she stopped commission payments in October 2024 and ended communication by January 2025. Ebony Son Entertainment says it generated over $5 million in total revenue for the artist through tours and songwriting opportunities. The firm accuses Long of concealing assets through multiple business entities. The company seeks...
Chick-fil-A serves Georgia cold wraps, no hope
Chick-fil-A has opened its first automated food kiosk at Wellstar Children's Hospital of Georgia in Augusta. The temperature-controlled refrigerator offers grab-and-go options for hospital workers and families who need quick meals. The machine stocks only cool wraps and waffle potato chips, with no hot items available. A company representative said the pilot program tests whether convenient access to limited menu items effectively serves busy medical facilities. Employees from a nearby restaurant location restock the unit to maintain freshness. The kiosk operates around the clock except on Sundays, when Chick-fil-A locations traditionally remain closed. The test represents the chain's first venture into vending-style service beyond...
Harris, ignoring Trump loss, calls Biden reckless
Former Vice President Kamala Harris has not ruled out seeking the presidency again after her 2024 defeat to Donald Trump. She told British media while promoting her memoir that public service remains central to her identity and suggested she could still become America's first female president. Harris lost the popular vote by more than 2 million ballots and faced a significant Electoral College defeat. Harris leads some early surveys of potential Democratic candidates despite betting markets giving her minimal odds of winning the 2028 nomination. Her book criticizes President Joe Biden's decision to run for reelection at age 81, calling it reckless and ego-driven rather than strategic. She has not officially announced plans for 2028...
Broke McCall says LaBelle, Blige, Keys can't sing
Singer Kevin McCall criticized several music industry veterans on the Back on Figg podcast, saying he does not believe Patti LaBelle, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Keyshia Cole, and Keith Sweat possess strong vocal abilities. He described Keys as lacking proper tone and pitch despite claiming he appreciates their music. McCall showed his EBT card to podcast hosts and said financial difficulties stem from unpaid royalties for songs he wrote. He stated that Chris Brown owes him $25,000 for work on the track "Deuces" and that he no longer receives compensation for past contributions. Brown appeared to respond through Instagram with a message about burned bridges and people who complain without money. The performers McCall named have not...
Clarke gives up $15 meals for $56 'raise'
Social Security recipients will see monthly payments rise by 2.8 percent starting in January 2026, the Social Security Administration announced. Retired workers will receive an average increase of $56, bringing their monthly benefit to $2,071, though advocates say the adjustment falls short of covering the costs of older Americans. Medicare Part B premiums will exceed $206 next year, reducing much of the cost-of-living adjustment for many beneficiaries. Nancy Altman from Social Security Works said some recipients will lose their entire raise to the premium hike, leaving them with no additional income despite the percentage increase. Sam Ciraulo, who receives about $1,400 monthly, said the adjustment barely helps with electricity...
Guirola guts Biden's transgender health rule
A federal judge blocked a Biden administration regulation that would have expanded discrimination protections for transgender patients in health care facilities. Judge Louis Guirola Jr. of the U.S. District Court in Mississippi ruled on Wednesday that the Department of Health and Human Services lacked authority to redefine sex discrimination under the Affordable Care Act. The policy would have required providers and insurers receiving federal money to offer gender-affirming treatments to transgender people. Fifteen Republican-controlled states challenged the measure, arguing the agency exceeded its legal powers by adding sexual orientation and gender identity to existing civil rights protections. Guirola said the term sex must reflect...
Wochiwunga blasts Mpofu's lies, frees Moyo
A Bulawayo court acquitted Nontokozo Moyo of vehicle theft charges on Friday after finding inconsistencies in the complainant's testimony, Sifiso Mpofu. The 25-year-old widow of former Insiza North legislator Farai Taruvinga faced allegations that she took a BMW X5 that Mpofu claimed belonged to him. Regional Magistrate Archie Wochiwunga noted Mpofu gave conflicting statements about whether he knew Moyo and criticized investigators for failing to establish proper ownership of the automobile. Mpofu parked the silver BMW at his Hillside residence on March 31 before traveling to Filabusi for mining work. He reported the vehicle missing after returning sometime between that date and May 25. Police arrested Moyo and recovered the automobile...
Gang desecrates Kwekwe parlour, beats workers
Five armed attackers raided a funeral home in Kwekwe and stole three mobile phones valued at $410. The suspects climbed over a wall around 1 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, before assaulting two security guards and three employees with iron bars and axes. Midlands Provincial police spokesperson Emmanuel Mahoko said the assailants tied up the victims while searching for cash inside the business. The robbers took a Huawei Y9, a G-Tel Delta, and a Samsung A06 before escaping from the scene. Police asked residents with information about the suspects to contact the nearest station. Mahoko said authorities launched a search for the attackers following the overnight theft at the mortuary facility.
Chihuri's defiance fails, Tsiwo trio returns
Three former police constables regained their positions after nearly a decade of legal proceedings that followed their 2016 termination. Kenneth Tsiwo, Trouble Chikwati and Last Mabvuregudo faced dismissal over allegations they smuggled items from Zambia into Zimbabwe on Friday, June 25, 2009. The officers challenged their removal in the High Court in April 2016, claiming that authorities denied them 72 hours to mount a defense and refused them legal counsel. High Court Judge Francis Bere identified problems with disciplinary procedures and criticized record-keeping failures in police trials. Former Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri dismissed recommendations from a suitability board that supported reinstatement. Mabvuregudo said...
