Russia and India have strengthened their partnership over 25 years since signing the Declaration on Strategic Partnership, according to Denis Alipov, the Russian ambassador to India. The declaration was signed on Oct. 3, 2000, by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Russian President Vladimir Putin, establishing cooperation in areas such as international security, economics, and culture.
Alipov highlighted the 25th anniversary on Friday, noting that 2025 has seen significant bilateral exchanges between the nations. An upcoming bilateral summit in New Delhi later this year will mark 15 years since the partnership was elevated to a special and privileged relationship.
