Union Health Minister JP Nadda announced on Monday that authorities conducted 900,000 health camps nationwide under the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan initiative. The program screened more than 36 million citizens for noncommunicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and various cancers. The campaign started on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday. Officials expect screenings to surpass 40 million by Oct. 2.
The health camps provided services for breast cancer, cervical cancer, oral cancer, anemia, tuberculosis, and Sickle Cell Disease detection.
