Uganda's Energy and Mineral Development ministry completed an extensive aerial survey revealing valuable mineral deposits across Lamwo district and Karamoja region. Spanish company Xcalibur executed the five-year study beginning in 2020 with €20 million financing from Spain. Watson and Grant provided technical supervision throughout the comprehensive mapping project. Survey teams discovered substantial gold reserves alongside rare earth elements such as antimony and niobium. Base metals like copper, cobalt, nickel, chrome and coltan were also identified across the surveyed territories.
