A young driver from Chinhoyi received community service for a deadly crash that killed one person and hurt four others. The 20-year-old man struck five pedestrians with his Honda Fit during early morning hours on November 17, 2024. Police found he drove without a license and used a car that failed safety standards. The driver left the accident scene before officers arrived.
Courts sentenced him to 360 hours of unpaid work after giving him 24 months jail time with most of the punishment suspended. One victim died from head wounds at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital after the crash happened near the business district. The other four people suffered various injuries from the collision that occurred around 4 a.m.
