Linda Boreman was born in New York City on January 10, 1948, to a working-class family. Her father worked as a police officer and her mother as a waitress. She attended Catholic schools and earned the nickname Miss Holy Moly for keeping distance from dates. Her mother was cruel and oppressive during her childhood. The family moved to Florida when Linda turned 16.
At 16, Linda gave birth to a baby boy but her mother forced her to give him up for adoption. She unwillingly signed the guardianship papers. Three years later, she returned to New York for computer school but suffered a car accident. Doctors gave her contaminated blood during a transfusion. She contracted hepatitis from the tainted blood.
