A fraud trial against businessmen Moses Mpofu and Mike Chimombe shifted Monday when the former Agriculture Ministry leader John Basera made surprising admissions during court testimony. Basera told the High Court that Blackdeck company actually delivered more goats than required during the first year of their government contract. The two men face charges of stealing 7 million US dollars from the 87 million dollar Presidential Goat Pass-On Scheme. Basera confirmed Blackdeck supplied 3,595 goats when they only needed to provide 3,113 animals. Defense lawyer Tapson Dzvetero questioned Basera about the contract performance during cross-examination.
