Next week, a big meeting is going down in Victoria Falls. It's called the 40th SADC Technical Barriers to Trade Cooperation Structures meetings. The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is putting it together. They want to get rid of trade roadblocks and beef up economic teamwork in the region. The meeting will last five days, from March 24 to 28, 2025, at the Peniel Retreat Centre in Victoria Falls. The SADC Secretariat and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce are organizing it together. They're bringing in key players from all over, like government reps, regulatory bodies, and industry experts. Big agri meet in Harare to boost Zimbabwe growth
A big meeting is going to happen next month in Harare. It's being put together by the Entrepreneurs Network Association of Zimbabwe (ENAZ). They want to bring together important people from agriculture, finance, and policy to help Zimbabwe's economy bounce back. This big event is gonna focus on how crucial agriculture is for helping Zimbabwe reach its Vision 2030 goals. They're gonna talk about food security, chances to invest, and adding value to products in a way that lasts. The head of ENAZ, Tsitsi Mutemaringa, said the meeting will make Zimbabwe look like a great place to invest in agriculture. It will also show that the government is serious about helping private companies enter agribusiness. Around 300 people are expected to...
Police Nab Man in Bulawayo Theft Spree
The cops in Zimbabwe caught a 38-year-old Tauya Maguwu. They think he broke into several houses and stole stuff in Bulawayo. This has been going on since the beginning of 2021, just a few days ago. Maguwu might be connected to at least seven different break-ins. All the household things he supposedly took add up to about $3,500. The national police spokesperson, Paul Nyathi, said they arrested him and thanked people in the community for helping out. He wants everyone to keep their eyes peeled and let the police know if they see any shady business going down. In December 2021, Maguwu apparently snuck into a house in Nketa and swiped a laptop, a couple of decoders, some laptop speakers, and a radio speaker. Then, on March 12th of this...
Country Struggles with Missing Transformers
Zimbabwe is going through a tough time right now. They're short 6,000 transformers that were lost because of people wrecking them on purpose. July Moyo, who's in charge of energy and power development, spilled the beans about this problem today in the National Assembly. He was answering a question from Noah Mangondo, who represents Murehwa South. Mangondo wanted to find out what the government plans to do about replacing busted-up electricity gear, especially for schools and hospitals. Some of these places have been without power for months. It's a real mess. Moyo said the biggest issue is people deliberately destroying the transformers and other equipment. The country can't make enough new transformers fast enough to keep up with all...
City Worker Tricks Home Buyer Out of Cash
A court recently heard a case about Charles Sigauke, a 51-year-old Harare City worker accused of stealing money through a fake land deal. The judge, Mrs Marehwanazvo Gofa, let him out on bail for $500. He must stay at his home address until his trial ends. The story goes that Sigauke and another man named Josphat Chidamoyo tried to sell 4000 square meters of land in Greystone Park. Edelite Muzavazi wanted to buy this land, so they all went to look at it together on May 9, 2024. Two days later, Muzavazi and Sigauke signed papers for the sale. They agreed the land cost $150,000. Muzavazi handed over $100,000 right away. She planned to pay the rest over six months. Later, she gave Sigauke another $26,000 but ran into problems when she...
AMD Radeon RX 9070 Demand Soars as Supply Remains Tight
AMD keeps shipping more Radeon RX 9070 cards as factories make extra chips. The first batch came from TSMC, which makes the Navi 48 chip, and those 200,000 RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT cards have already found homes with eager buyers. Stores have limited stock right this minute, but that should change soon. Board Partners plan to add fresh inventory each week until mid-April when supplies should catch up. AMD does not disclose how much its partners charge for these graphics cards. The company suggests prices, but partners design custom versions and set their prices however they want. Some RX 9070 XT models cost $200 more than what AMD recommends. These early sales numbers came from the AI PC Innovation Summit held in Beijing, showing people...
OEM Radeon RX 9070 Tweaks and Cooling Details
AMD recently showed off their OEM version of the Radeon RX 9070 graphics card. You can see it has two cooling fans with some eight-shaped decorations sitting between them. The design helps the card stay cool and run well even when working hard. This card puts the RADEON logo right in the middle of its shield, not by the I/O like the public MBA version does. The OEM Radeon RX 9070 looks quite different from the earlier MBA model. Its shield uses new materials and colors that match what system makers need. The two fans keep everything nice and cool when you're gaming or doing heavy graphics work. Those eight-shaped decorations between the fans look like older AMD cards, but the logo spot and shield build clearly show this card was made...
ASUS GX10 Powers Up Local AI Testing
ASUS made the Ascent GX10 AI supercomputer for experts who want to build and check AI models right at home. You can use it by itself on your desk or hook it up with others to make your private cloud. It comes with NVIDIA ConnectX network cards inside that let you link several GX10 machines together. When you connect just two of these systems, they handle huge AI models with as many as 405 billion moving parts. Experts love this setup because they can try out ideas, improve things, and test how models work without needing to borrow time on big shared computers. The machine runs NVIDIA AI Software, which means you can create something on your desktop and move it to cloud systems later without changing much of your code. This saves tons...
Nvidia New AI PCs Bring Big Power for Local Work
Nvidia just released two powerful AI computers for home use. The DGX Station and DGX Spark let AI experts run big models right at their desks instead of always connecting to cloud services. These machines make local AI work much easier for people who need serious computing muscle. The DGX Station comes ready for the toughest AI jobs you can throw at it. It packs the GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Desktop Superchip that cranks out 20 petaflops of AI power. You'll find 784GB of unified memory inside, making it breeze through giant datasets and complex models. The ConnectX-8 SuperNIC handles network speeds reaching 800 Gbit/s, perfect for heavy AI number-crunching. Looking for something smaller but still mighty? The DGX Spark fits that bill...
