62 Scribes Clash in GJA Wild Election Race

Ghana Journalists Association approved 62 people to run for office during June 30 elections. Election Committee leader Peter Martey Agbeko said 13 candidates will compete for national jobs and 49 others want regional spots. The group still accepts applications for Vice Chairperson of Volta Region until Monday at 5 PM. All approved candidates appear on voting ballots across the country.

Two people want the president job at the national level. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour and Yao Charles Mawusi both filed papers for the top position. Rebecca Ekpe and Mary Tawiah Mensah seek the vice president role. General Secretary attracts Dominic Hlordzi and Akwasi Agyeman as competitors.

Regional races show strong interest from journalists across Ghana. Ashanti Region draws multiple candidates for chairman and other leadership roles. Bono and Central regions also feature several people running for different positions. Eastern Region has three people wanting the chairman seat.

Northern areas see good participation from potential leaders. Upper East and Upper West regions each have two chairman candidates ready to serve members. Western Region completes the list with four people seeking various officer positions. The elections will choose new leaders to guide journalist affairs nationwide.
