The 1.0 Preview of AAP just dropped, bringing Android a proper plugin standard with a whole ecosystem in tow. Windows got VST, Macs got AudioUnit, Linux got LV2, but Android was stuck with nothing until this hit. The MIT license keeps things permissive, and the design actually mirrors iOS's AudioUnit v3 approach rather than copying desktop formats.
UAPMD landed on the Play Store as the main sequencer and host, letting you load plugins as instruments or effects, tweak parameters, handle MIDI, store presets. Dexed, Surge XT, Odin2, Wavetable, Audible Planets, OB-Xf, Vaporizer2, MDA plugins, OPNplug, and BYOD all got ported here.
