Former Zimbabwe Warriors forward Abbas Amidu was arrested on Friday on the Kwekwe to Kadoma Highway after police discovered 750 kilograms of cannabis valued at $75,000 in a silver Honda Shuttle. The Zimbabwe Republic Police took Amidu and 41-year-old Reuben Kudzai Mhlanga into custody on drug trafficking charges. Amidu played for CAPS United when the team won the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League title in 2016, and he later transferred to Saudi Arabian club Al Wehda in 2017. The former international forward faces severe penalties under Zimbabwean law, and authorities have not announced a court date for the case.
