Akwasi Awuah blasts GH¢13.1B jet spend over nurses’ strike

Former Precious Minerals Marketing Company head Nana Akwasi Awuah has challenged the administration's plan to spend 13.1 billion cedis on four helicopters and two presidential aircraft, urging instead that those resources address longstanding grievances from healthcare workers and educators demanding better employment terms. During a television appearance, Awuah questioned purchasing executive transport while nurses and teachers regularly protest inadequate working conditions, arguing such investments should support personnel vital to national progress rather than official comfort.

Damongo legislator Samuel Abu Jinapor similarly criticized the aviation expenditure during budget discussions, calling the allocation misguided when numerous civil servants reportedly lack payment. The lawmaker contended the spending contradicts earlier pledges to lower living costs and expand job opportunities.
