Guyana's president has set aggressive deadlines for government agencies to complete major digital transformation projects, with the National Insurance Scheme required to go fully digital within eight months and all public service personnel records to be digitized in five months. President Mohamed Irfaan Ali announced the timelines during Monday's launch of a public service training platform at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, directing Senior Minister for Finance Ashni Singh and the Minister of Public Service to oversee their respective initiatives.
The digitalisation push extends beyond administrative systems to include a four-month deadline for rolling out new technological tools for farmers, providing weather data, field information, and extension services through digital platforms. Ali emphasized that the transformation aims to create an integrated digital economy spanning tourism, manufacturing, agriculture, and infrastructure sectors.
Several locally developed applications supporting public services will debut within weeks as part of the government's 2025 manifesto goals to modernize operations and improve efficiency across all sectors.
