AudioThing Launches SX1000 Synth Emulation

AudioThing Introduces Digital Recreation of Classic JEN SX1000 Synthesizer.

The software company AudioThing has unveiled SX1000, a virtual reproduction of the JEN SX1000 synthesizer from 1978. The original Italian-made instrument stood out as one of the first budget-friendly analog synthesizers, offering musicians direct control over their sound.

The new software captures the essential features of its hardware predecessor. Users can shape sounds through a single oscillator with saw, square, and pulse waveforms. A suboscillator extends the bass range down three octaves. The synthesizer includes one LFO for vibrato, filter modulation, and pulse-width changes.

AudioThing's recreation adds modern capabilities to the classic design. The interface features dual envelopes for volume and filter control, plus a resonant filter with a 24 dB/octave slope. Musicians can enhance their sounds using four built-in effects: echo, spring reverb, wave folder, and flanger.

Additional features include an arpeggiator for pattern creation and adjustable window sizing. The interface offers brightness and contrast settings for visual customization. A preset management system comes with a randomizer function for unexpected sound discoveries.
