Aurangzeb leads board shakeup at TCP, PRCL, SMEDA as Islamabad pushes SOE reforms

Federal authorities endorsed leadership changes across multiple government enterprises during a recent committee session. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb led the virtual meeting that addressed appointments for Trading Corporation of Pakistan, Pakistan Reinsurance Company Limited, and Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority. Commerce and Housing Ministers participated alongside regulatory officials from various departments. Asim Aziz Siddiqui received approval as Trading Corporation chairman while Ayesha Aziz joined as an independent director. Shoaib Mir Memon gained confirmation for Pakistan Reinsurance Company board leadership.

Officials mandated enhanced procedures for future board selections to prevent administrative delays. Six private sector representatives secured positions on the development authority board from different provinces. The committee transformed Scientific and Technological Development Corporation into Institution for Research and Development in Applied Areas. Minister Aurangzeb praised reform efforts designed to boost institutional performance. These appointments reflect government priorities for strengthening public enterprise governance through qualified leadership appointments.
