Bangladesh BSC seals two bulk ships, Sakhawat Hussain hails

Bangladesh Shipping Corporation achieved a significant breakthrough by financing two modern bulk carriers independently. Shipping Adviser Brigadier General Dr M Sakhawat Hussain announced this development during a contract signing event with Hellenic Dry Bulk Ventures LLC at a city hotel. The transaction represents BSC's first independent vessel purchase without external funding support. These acquisitions will generate an additional Tk150 crore in annual revenue while adding 120,000 deadweight tonnage to the fleet capacity. The vessels feature German-licensed construction from Chinese shipyards.

The ships comply with current International Maritime Organization regulations and deliver enhanced environmental performance through energy-efficient design. European and Japanese components equip these vessels, with Spanish pumps and Norwegian compressors among the specialized machinery. BSC expects the first vessel to arrive in October and the second in December. The corporation has initiated procurement procedures for three additional ships, bringing the total new vessel count to five under the present administration's maritime expansion program.
