Bangladesh Government Takes Proactive Steps to Address Air Pollution in Dhaka

Bangladesh's Environment Minister Syeda Rizwana Hasan announced new steps to fight air pollution during a meeting with Chinese experts at the Bangladesh Secretariat. The government plans to tackle dust problems across Dhaka through the Bangladesh Clean Air Project. Officials want to finish all road repairs before winter arrives. Workers will cover surfaces, build fences, and spray water to stop dust from spreading.

The transport authority will remove old vehicles from roads and bring 250 newer models to replace them. Ten automatic inspection centers will check vehicle emissions to make sure they meet clean air standards. Authorities plan to use water trucks and harden land surfaces to prevent dirt from becoming airborne. The new zero soil policy will stop dust from exposed ground areas.

Future plans call for better air quality monitoring systems that match global standards. The government wants to build waste treatment plants and promote cleaner cooking gas for homes. Tax breaks for green technology companies are under consideration. The Environment Department will track emissions from factories that pollute the most. Transport officials will add 50 electric vehicles and install road barriers across the city.

Japan will fund eight monitoring stations that track air quality in real time. These stations will help leaders make better decisions about pollution control. Chinese experts will work with local teams to create long-term solutions. The minister stressed that accurate data collection remains essential for successful policies. She expressed confidence that cooperation with international experts will help Bangladesh create cleaner air for everyone.
