Bay brewing new low, heat wave hits northern Bangladesh

Bangladesh's meteorological department forecasts a low pressure system will develop over North Bay and Central Bay of Bengal on October 1. A depression that formed from an earlier weather system crossed coastal areas between South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh early Saturday morning. The system has weakened as it moved inland and continues tracking westward.

Heat wave conditions affect Rangpur and Sylhet divisions along with Rajshahi, Bogura and Chuadanga districts. Weather officials expect these elevated temperatures to decrease soon. The monsoon trough extends across multiple Indian states and southern Bangladesh, though monsoon activity remains limited over the country.

Light to moderate rainfall with gusty winds will likely hit several divisions including Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet. Other regions may see scattered showers. Both daytime and nighttime temperatures should drop slightly across Bangladesh during this period.
