Zimbabwean workers marked May Day with sports events across the country. Bikita Minerals staff played marathon races, soccer, basketball, netball, darts, pool games, and aerobics together. The company sports day gave employees chances to meet each other and check their health with medical staff.
Workers' union rep Rodrick Tavarwisa said the day helps people see how much workers add to the economy. Mine manager David Mwanza said employee numbers jumped five times to 1360 since 2022, mostly local young people and women. The company thinks healthy workers make more money for everyone.
