Bishop Tells Politicians Church Isn't Your Personal Stage

Bishop Lagho from Malindi wants churches to treat everyone fairly. He said churches must focus on prayer and God's word, not personal goals. The Bishop sent out a notice Wednesday against misusing sacred spaces.

He thinks politicians should sit with everyone else and not make speeches during church. All worshippers deserve the same respect. The Bishop slammed those who demand special treatment, saying churches will ignore such requests.

"Prayer places are sacred spaces where people should listen to God's word and join in the Eucharist," he told all priests and church members. According to the bishop, using churches for non-religious activities violates their holy purpose.

He criticized people who call ahead expecting red-carpet treatment at mass. Any priest breaking these rules will face direct consequences. Bishop Lagho asked everyone to help keep peace nationally by keeping politics out of worship spaces.

His statement comes during ongoing talks about how much fundraising and speaking politicians should do in churches across the country.
