The BNP pledged to create a dedicated government authority for the plains indigenous communities if elected to power. Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince made the commitment on Saturday at a meeting with cultural activists at the Small Ethnic Group Cultural Academy in Rangrapara. He emphasized that ethnic minorities have enriched national culture and promised the party would work to preserve their traditions.
Prince criticized the academy's lack of resources since its 2019 establishment and welcomed the interim government's appointment of a director. He announced plans to modernize the facility and establish museums for the Garo and Hajong communities in Haluaghat and Dobaura. The BNP leader also proposed developing a safari park to preserve biodiversity and indigenous lifestyles.
At a separate afternoon meeting with Garo community members at Azkipara Francis JBR Church, Prince appealed for support of the BNP's electoral symbol. He promised to build an inclusive state for all citizens, regardless of religion or ethnicity. Activists requested organizing the Wangala festival and thanked Prince for his efforts to activate the academy.
