The Highlanders team practiced hard under the hot sun at their Beitbridge training camp. Everyone calls them Bosso back home in Bulawayo. They planned this week-long camp during the FIFA break to help players become closer friends before they face the new team, Scottland FC, at Barbourfields Stadium. Coach Kelvin Kaindu seemed happy with how his players worked together far from home. He wanted more than just practice drills - he hoped players would become a tight group ready for upcoming games.
Players pushed themselves through long practice sessions every day. Kaindu noticed big improvements across the team. He believed all this hard work would show up when league games started again. The team planned one last practice match against a local team before heading back to Bulawayo. The coach kept the opponent secret as part of his strategy. Kaindu, who comes from Zambia, explained they needed this camp because they missed proper pre-season training earlier.
The camp helped new players learn how to work with teammates who had been around longer. Bosso faced problems signing players because of an earlier FIFA ban, but they managed to add several new guys before March 31st. They brought in defender Malvern Hativagoni, striker Tendai Muvuti, midfielder Hubert Ncube, forward Panashe Mushonga, and Mbonisi Ncube from teams across Zimbabwe and Botswana. They also moved young players Luckmore Mutumbi and Junior Chiweta up from junior teams.
Kaindu talked about using every minute of the international break for team activities. The weather in Beitbridge felt similar to Bulawayo, which helped players adjust easily. He liked having everyone together all day because he could plan better training sessions. The coach pushed players harder than usual since they spent all their time as one group. He focused mainly on building team spirit and making sure everyone stayed in excellent shape for coming matches.
