Buffalo gores farmer near Save Conservancy

A buffalo charged, turning fieldwork into a survival scramble. In Middle Sabi near the Save Conservancy, Ms Rosemary Tenisi, 45, from Mkomba Village under Chief Musikavanhu in Chipinge, suffered injuries at Chibuwe Block D Irrigation Scheme. The attack happened while she tended crops, and the scene shifted fast from routine tasks to chaos.

Witnesses said the animal rushed from adjacent terrain as she worked, forcing a run that ended in a fall. The buffalo gored her on the head and back, then disappeared toward unknown ground, leaving shaken villagers to respond.

Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the attack and said Ms Tenisi shouted for help, drawing Mr Christopher Mudaira from a nearby plot. Neighbors moved her to Chibuwe Clinic, where staff reported a stable condition after emergency care.

ZRP Chibuwe received the report and alerted Save Conservancy. ZimParks also got notice, with teams working to locate the animal for safety management and to reduce risk for surrounding settlements.

Police urged communities close to conservancies to stay alert, avoid working alone near bush edges, and favor late starts when wildlife activity eases. Extra caution around irrigation blocks was stressed, since thick cover can hide large animals and limit escape routes.
